  • Notable Features : Many feel that Bultaco's M-68 Pursang MK 4 was the best-looking dirt bike of all time, There's no argument that the machines' fiberglass body pieces were as sleek & stylish as they were fragile & prone to damage, And damage did come fast and often because during those days in 1969 thru the early 1970's the Pursangs were about the hottest 250 cc models built, Like the earlier Pursang models the MK 4 was produced in two versions : An E model for MX and the A model for American style scrambles and flat tracking, Our A model is one of a pair, Both cycles were purchased new by a pair of brothers in Amarillo, Texas and both were bought in a package deal in 1998, Their serial numbers are close to being consecutive, Model 68's had a running change after the first year of production, Updated cycles received modified " square " engine cases ( clutch & magneto ) and revised cylinders, The cylinder mods involved a more efficient intake port and two additional transfer ports milled into the liner, The transfers were known as finger ports and opened through two corresponding holes drilled in the Mahle pistons, Our Pursangs are of the later improved types, Neither cycle is restored yet but the " slow brother's " bike is close, Slo-bro's motor is incredibly standard without wear & tear, Cylinder bore remains standard and if the paint and bodywork was equally perfect we'd have a winner, When purchased it was planned to leave both " as is ", As time passed the ideas changed and here we are with work left to be done.
