Technical Details

  • Engine : 500 cc Two-stroke single, Pre-mix required
  • Transmission : 4 Speed

  • Notable Features : When purchased the SC500 Special displayed here was set-up as an ice racer, Major components are top-line items from the 1970's which include Champion frame by Doug Schwerma, Betor 35 mm forks, Billet aluminum fork crowns, Mulholland shocks, Kennedy rear wheel with quick-change spool hub, and K&N handle bars. Goodyear Eagle DT II tires were mounted to replace the studded tires, Compared to a stock SC500-A the specially constructed Champion-framed track bike is approximately 40 pounds lighter, Accordingly it will accelerate faster but the abrupt power hit from either needs to be respected, Dyno testing stock SC500 motors with factory carburetion and exhaust reveals why, There's an arm-stretching 30 BHP gain between 3500 to 6500 RPM. Put another way : At wide open throttle 75% of the total horsepower potential can be produced within several seconds.

The motor has serial number 363-004110. Production for 1973 ended with number 005198.
