- Notable Features : Like the RT1-B Yamaha's RT1-MX for 1971 was a big-bore 360 entering its second year of production, MX versions came equipped with the factory's GYT-kit, GYT forms an acronym derived from Genuine Yamaha Tuning, The tuned parts included cylinder with hotter porting, high-compression head, expansion chamber type exhaust, and a Mikuni carb with 34 mm throttle bore, Close-ratio transmission gear sets were employed to aid driveability, MX model cycles were supplied with a proper 21" front wheel and NOS Barum 6-ply tires have been mounted.
This motorcycle was found in a speed shop in Colorado specializing in early Ford Flatheads, It was claimed to have had one owner and never raced, Either way the motorcycle has not been abused, All assemblies are straight & true and the factory's Autolube system remains connected, Yamaha Motor Company records indicate RT1-MX serial numbers range from 53101 to 55215, Here the matching frame and motor numbers read 54939.
