Technical Details |
|
|
- Year Built : 1971
- Engine : 650 cc OHV
- Transmission : 4 Speed
- Electrics : 12 Volt alternator, Battery and coil ignition
- Notable Features : The 1971 A65FS Firebird was BSA's first and last 650 cc street
scrambler using their new oil-in-frame design, Shown here is a cycle
sold new by Bruce Bristol BSA in Houston,Texas. Bristol's operation
also handled Honda & BMW and was one of the best dealerships in the
Big-H mega-city, Within its VIN the motorcycle carries a DE code
making the build date during April 1971, Bike is all original and
the mileage is true & correct, Everything works as it should, Runs
strong and the earlier type twin mufflers flow freely providing just
the right tone, Starts easily but with Amal carburetors being what
they are a pair of up-rated throttle slides would be an improvement,
Purchased in 2003 the paint & chrome was no longer as clean as
desired, However when seeking low-production last-year models
remaining in factory-built condition a buyer cannot be too picky,
Oddly enough after owning the motorcycle for 12 years and seeing pure
rust-buckets pawned-off as Holy Grails very unlikely to run again the
semi-rare BSA Scrambler is looking younger & fresher. And Mr.Bristol's
original decal still pays homage to what was and looks no worse for
the wear.
